Putting the Conflict on the Table

About Us

Tema initiative promotes the participation of all segments of Israeli society, on its various communities and identity groups, in an inclusive and deep discussion about the future of Israel’s relations with its Palestinian neighbors. This is achieved through the creation of new knowledge and language, while promoting actions and impact. TEMA emphasizes the worldviews and protected values of different groups and communities, their implications on the divisions and polarization in Israeli society, and honest, practical dialogue about possible future scenarios regarding the conflict . We believe that these measures will strengthen resilience and security, and will lead to enhanced readiness and ripeness of Israeli society to promote a better future reality in its relations with the Palestinians, based on life with dignity and security for the State of Israel and all residents of the region.

Our approach - we achieve these goals through four main courses of action:

Our approach
we achieve these goals through four main courses of action:

Research and Knowledge

In such a complex subject, where it seems everything has been said and there's no way to progress, new knowledge has the ability to expand the boundaries of thought, dispel old paradigms and generate hope. Therefore, we develop original, accessible and applicable content, communicating insights to new  audiences, outlining new directions for action ,and providing practical tools for diverse stakeholders.

Active Diverse Leadership

Our engine  of change is based on a network of leaders from different identity groups and worldviews, who take responsibility and act effectively and urgently to promote substantive, practical, and inclusive engagement with the conflict between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors. The network aims to strengthen the resilience and readiness of Israeli society for conflict transformation and a secure and prosperous future for the State of Israel and the residents of the region. This network currently consists of approximately 200 members.

Innovation Hub

The innovation hub guides and promotes social entrepreneurship led  by diverse leadership network participants, aiming to create movement on the ground and increase the depth and breadth of TEMA’s impact, promoting its  vision and goals. Through developing an entrepreneurial community, providing mentoring and individual consulting, and raising investments to support initiatives – TEMA serves as a platform enabling entrepreneurs to act in the field and create a growing impact that will promote change and readiness for conflict transformation.

Expanding Circles of Influence

Out of an acute sense of urgency to act as fast as possible, in search of courses of action that will bring change to the dire reality in the region, we establish additional platforms to expand impact, including: systemic partnerships with social and other organizations to implement the action model while creating a new field for conflict transformation; partnerships around disseminating knowledge, ideas,
and more.

The operating model emerged from the understanding that previous diplomatic attempts to resolve the conflict relied on paradigms which do not represent the diversity of Israeli society. Therefore, these attempts failed to garner support and legitimacy among the broader public and excluded many segments from involvement with the issue. This contrasts with new paradigms, such as conflict transformation, which aims to gradually promote positive changes in the conflict’s structure and the dynamics of relationships between conflicting parties, in a way that aligns with the diverse worldviews existing in the relevant societies.
